Check out the F/M Live Rock Facebook page HERE

After 14 1/2 years of running FMLiveRock.com and promoting bands in some way or another for about 10 years before that I have decided to call it quits.  This has been something I have been thinking about for a while but I think it is time now.  There are a few reasons for this. Obviously Live Rock music in the bars, at least the ones that I go to, has been declining over the years. We lost one of the best venues this area has ever had when The Garage Bar closed at the end of June.  The owner Al gets some of the blame but lack of turnout there from the time they opened contributed greatly to the problems he had there.  Jerry's opened up in August with a bang but have been struggling on most nights since.  Location isn't the best for the majority of those in the F/M area so I hope they can keep it going over there.  Rick's and Speck's has a built in crowd of people that I see almost every week but I don't see many new people coming in. One thing that I have been preaching for years is bands supporting other bands.  Other than a few people that I see out on a regular basis, there is very little support between bands. It also REALLY makes me mad when bands do little to nothing to promote their own shows!  One post at 5:00 on Friday is NOT promoting your show!  I am at the age where most of my friends just don't go out very often if at all to see a local band. It just isn't that fun to go out every week and just see the same 10 - 15 people.  I don't feel that what I do really helps that much anymore because no matter what I do, people are only going to go out if they want to.

I am going to leave this page up until the domain name expires next year and I have added links to the bars I support on here so you can go to their page to see who is playing. I hope they have someone that will stay on top of updating their pages!  If there is a younger person that has the passion to try to get the word out to those in their 20's and 30's that do like rock music that ROCKS, that would like to take over this page please contact me.  Most of my friends are mid 30's - early 50's so I don't reach many younger people with posts on my personal Facebook page.  Scot
